Grant Decisions - May 28, 2008

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on May 28, 2008 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area
organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:

Arts & Business Council of Chicago:  $25,000 for general operations + $10,000 for the On-Board program in honor of Joan Gunzberg.

Black Ensemble Theatre: $15,000 for general operations.

 

For Built Environment:

Archimedia Workshop: $25,000 to finish work on a movie about Daniel Burnham.

Grant Decisions - May 1, 2008

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on May 1,
2008 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area
organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:

Artadia (New York City): $15,000 in 2008 + $10,000 in 2009 for their awards program for individual artists in Chicago.

Britton Bertran: $15,000 planning grant to study a Foundation-supported art gallery.

The Dance Center of Columbia College: $10,000 renewal grant for the Subsidized Theater Rental Program.

Small Theater & Dance Grants Decided on February 6, 2008

(all in the Chicago area)

2nd Year Payment of 2-Year Grants:

1) Teatro Luna = $7,500

2) The Lira Dancers = $5,000

3) Oak Park Festival Theatre = $5,000

Total = $17,500

 

Theater grants (all grants are for general operating support):

1) The Gift Theatre Company = $10,000

2) Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company = $7,500 for each of 2 years

3) Eclipse Theater Company = $7,000 

4) Walkabout Theater Company = $6,000 for each of 2 years

Grant Decisions February 6, 2008

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on February 6, 2008 and approved the following grants (all grants are to
Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:

Audience Architects:  $10,000 for SeeChicagoDance.com, a website for promoting dance concerts to Chicago audiences.

Next Theatre Company:  $7,500 renewal grant to support Next Communities, which forges links among Evanston's and Chicago's diverse communities, using theater as the connection.

NEW DEADLINES FOR 2008

New deadlines have been announced for the 2008 MacArthur Fund for Arts and Culture, and for the Small Theater & Dance Funding Program.

MACARTHUR FUND FOR ARTS & CULTURE

In October 2007, the board of The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation approved the following grants for the MacArthur Fund for Arts & Culture at The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation:

Grant Decisions - December 16, 2007

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on December 16, 2007 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:
Sundance Institute (Beverly Hills, CA): $25,000 renewal grant to support the July Theatre Lab and the 2nd convening in Chicago.

For the Built Environment:
Chicago Architecture Foundation: $30,000 for the exhibit, "Do We Dare Squander Chicago's Great Architectural Heritage?"

Congress for the New Urbanism: $35,000 for each of two years for general operations.

Small Theater & Dance Grants Decided on October 10, 2007

Grant Decisions October 10, 2007

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on October 10, 2007 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:
1. Gene Siskel Film Center: $10,000 for general operations.

2. New Athenaeum Theatre: $10,000 for Dance Chicago 2007.

For the Built Environment:
1. Community Loan Fund: $10,000 to further implement plans to promote good, green design elements into community projects, particularly the customers of the Community Loan Fund.

Grant Decisions August 1, 2007

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on August 1, 2007 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:
1. Arts & Business Council of Chicago: $25,000 for general operations.

For the Built Environment:
1. The Cultural Landscape Foundation: $20,000 to help start this project.

2. Designs with Dignity: $25,000 for general operations.

3. Landmarks Illinois: $57,500 for their awards event.

4. LISC: $60,000 for the 2007 Chicago Neighborhood Design Awards.
