Grant Decisions - December 16, 2007
The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on December 16, 2007 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise).
For Arts:
Sundance Institute (Beverly Hills, CA): $25,000 renewal grant to support the July Theatre Lab and the 2nd convening in Chicago.
For the Built Environment:
Chicago Architecture Foundation: $30,000 for the exhibit, "Do We Dare Squander Chicago's Great Architectural Heritage?"
Congress for the New Urbanism: $35,000 for each of two years for general operations.
Glessner House: $20,000 to match the Alphawood Foundation's grant for transition funding.
Metropolitan Planning Council: $50,000 for Designing Communities Through Placemaking ($25,000 outright grant plus $25,000 matching grant).
Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago: $50,000 for each of two years to support the Greystone Initiative
Partners for Sacred Places (Philadelphia, PA): $125,000 matching grant for comprehensive services to Chicago's older congregations.
Preservation Chicago: $25,000 for general operations.
The Trust for Public Land: $100,000 for planning the Bloomingdale Trail.
For Economic Opportunity:
Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law: $27,000 to make quality child care affordable and accessible for working poor families in Illinois.
For General Funding:
Beverly Area Planning Association: $15,000 for general operations.
Festival of Maps, Chicago: $5,000.
