NEW DEADLINES FOR 2008
New deadlines have been announced for the 2008 MacArthur Fund for Arts and Culture, and for the Small Theater & Dance Funding Program.
The MacArthur Fund for Arts & Culture at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation
Please note: Starting in 2008, there will be two separate deadlines for the MacArthur Fund.
The deadline for receipt of proposals from performing arts organizations (music, theater and dance groups) is 5 p.m. on March 3, 2008. All music, theater or dance proposals must be in our office, or postmarked, by that date.
The deadline for
receipt of proposals from all other groups—literary arts, visual and media arts, interdisciplinary arts, special projects, museums, as well as service, policy or advocacy groups—is 5 p.m. on June 2, 2008. All proposals from these groups must be in our office, or postmarked, by that date.
We hope to respond within four months of our deadlines.
The MacArthur Fund is seeking applications from organizations that have budgets of $500,000 or less and reside in and serve the Chicago metropolitan area. This fund is not intended for arts education programs. Nor is it intended for professional theater and dance companies with operating budgets of less than $150,000 (those companies should review the guidelines for The Small Theater and Dance Group Funding Project at www.driehausfoundation.org/support/.)

Small Theater and Dance Funding Program
The application deadlines are:
April 21, 2008 (decisions will be made in late summer) and
September 8, 2008 (decisions will be made in the winter).
Applications must be received in the office, or be postmarked, by 5:00 p.m. on those dates.
While we recognize that all dance and theater companies need support, this funding program was designed specifically to address the needs of
small professional companies. Our goal is to encourage a continuation of Chicago's richness in the performance of dance and theater. To that end, we accept proposals only from companies that emphasize professional presentation instead of education or community outreach.
