Grant Decisions - May 28, 2008

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on May 28, 2008 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area
organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:

Arts & Business Council of Chicago:  $25,000 for general operations + $10,000 for the On-Board program in honor of Joan Gunzberg.

Black Ensemble Theatre: $15,000 for general operations.

 

For Built Environment:

Archimedia Workshop: $25,000 to finish work on a movie about Daniel Burnham.

Archeworks: $50,000 matching grant for general operations.

Art Institute of Chicago: $30,000 for October, 2010 exhibit on the architect Bertrand Goldberg.

Cambodian Association of Illinois: $20,000 grant + $20,000 more after the organization raises $40,000 to construct new concrete sculpture.

Friends of the Parks: $45,000 for Public Trust & Policy Research Program.

Landmarks Illinois:  $183,880 over 3 years (2008, 2009 & 2010), for the Driehaus Awards Program.

 

For Economic Opportunity for the Working Poor:

Jane Addams Senior Caucus:  $25,000 one-time grant to hire development and strategic advisor.

Women Employed: $5,000 grant + $25,000 matching grant.

 

For General Funding:

Donors Forum:  $15,000 per year for each of 3 years for general operations.

Music Theatre Workshop: $25,000 for general operations.

Siskel/Jacobs Productions:  $10,000 for the film, "Louder than a Bomb."

Taproot Foundation: $25,000: $15,000 to provide service grants to 3 Driehaus Foundation grantees, + $10,000 for general operations.

Sir Harry Johnston International School (Zomba, South Africa):  $20,000.

 

For Government Accountability/Investigative Reporting:

The Chicago Reporter: $30,000 for each of 2 years for general operations.

Media Matters (Washington, D.C.):  $20,000 for general operations.

We The People Media:  $10,000 for general operations.
