Grant Decisions - April 8, 2009

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on April 8, 2009 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise):

For Arts:
-About Face Theatre, $15,000 matching grant for the Face The Future Campaign
-Audience Architects, $10,000 for general operations
-Black Ensemble Theater, $15,000 for general operations
-Coolidge Corner Theater (Brookline, MA), $10,000 for an exhibition on animation of Quay Bros to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Coolidge and for the 6th (of 10) awards to great film makers
-The Dance Center of Columbia College, $10,000 for subsidized Theater Rental Program
-Illinois Arts Alliance Foundation, $3,000 in support of the statewide conference, "One State: Together in the Arts."

From the Crisis Response Fund:
-Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, $5,000 2-to-1 matching grant to support artist salaries for their upcoming production of "The Walls."

From the General funding area:
-Benedictine Sisters of Chicago, $8,000 one-to-one matching grant for the St. Scholastica Chapel at Monastery: the 70 year old organ needs repairs and the Chapel’s 1930s stained glass windows need repair
-Neighborhood Writing Alliance, $5,000 to support their strategic planning process

For Government Accountability/Investigative Reporting:
-Chicago Headline Club, $15,000 for the Watchdog Award and for the Watchdog Fund.
-We The People Media, $12,500 to add reporters to, and expand circulation of "Residents' Journal."
