Grant Decisions - November 16, 2009
The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on November 16, 2009 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise):
For Arts:
-The Chicago Sinfonietta: $7,500 for transition to a new conductor as founding conductor retires for health reasons.
-Grantmakers in the Arts (Seattle, WA): $15,000 to support 2010 Annual Conference in Chicago;
For Built Environment:
-Archimedia Workshop: $15,000 for outreach and education plan for Daniel Burnham file, "Make No Little Plans: Daniel Burnham and the American City."
-CEO for Cities: $7,500 for national cross-sector network of urban leaders in corporate, philanthropic, higher education, public and civic sectors working to create great cities;
-Chicago Architecture Foundation: $30,000 for 2011 exhibit, “There’s No Place Like Home.”
-Chicago Community Loan Fund: $15,000 for Community Lending and Technical Assistance program;
-Designs for Dignity: $25,000 for general operations + $10,000 matching grant
-National Trust for Historic Preservation: $150,000 over 3 years for Midwest Office divided between general operations and "Cornerstones of Community."
-Neighborhood Development Collaborative: $7,500 for May 2010 Symposium on Senior Housing.
-Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago: $100,000 over 2 years for Greystone Initiative.
-Partners for Sacred Places (Philadelphia, PA): $75,000 for the Chicago regional office
-Pullman Civic Organization: $15,000 for preservation of Pullman historic homes by documenting the 85 (minimum) different types of facades.
For Economic Opportunity for the Working Poor:
-Leave No Veteran Behind: $5,000 to support the relief of educational debt for veterans who are serving and have served in US Military.
From the General funding area:
-Executive Service Corps of Chicago: $30,000 renewal support for the Urgent Action Team
For Government Accountability & Investigative Reporting:
-The Center for Public Integrity (Washington, D.C.): $25,000 for General Operations.
-Media Matters (Washington, D.C.): $15,000 for General Operations
