Grant Decisions in June, 2010

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation approved the following grants in June, 2010 (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise):

For Arts:

-3Arts: $10,000 for a public education and advocacy campaign for Chicago artists;

-Chicago Dramatists:  $15,000 for salary support for the new position of Marketing Director;

-Chicago Sinfonieta:  $10,000 for the continuing transition to a new Musical Director as the Founder retires;

-Curious Theatre Branch:  $5,000 for development workshops for a new script commissioned by Museum of Contemporary Art, which will be produced in Fall, 2011;

-Ruth Page Foundation:  $15,000 to help meet the MacArthur Foundation's $100,000 challenge grant;

-The Association of American Cultures (Lincoln, Nebraska):  $3,000 for the Open Dialogue Conference, to be held in Chicago August 12-14, 2010;

-The Paper Machete:  $10,000 for general operating support;

-The Pew Charitable Trusts (Philadelphia, PA):  $15,000 renewal grant for continued support of the Illinois Cultural Data Project;

 

For the Built Environment:

-Archeworks:  $10,000 for fabrication and completion of a bicycle-operated Mobile Food Collective and production of a short film that features the Mobile Food Collective operating in the Greater Grand Crossing community.  The film will be on view at the 12th International Venice Biennale in August;

-Friends of the Chicago River:  $15,000 for the Bridgehouse and Chicago River Museum;

 

For Economic Opportunity for the Working Poor:

-Erie Neighborhood House:  $6,000 to support a community building collaboration with CirceEsteem;

 

From the General Funding area:

-Wheat Ridge Ministries:  $7,500 to underwrite a visit to Chicago in the Fall, 2010 by Dr. Robert Putnam, political scientist and professor of public policy at Harvard University.
