Grant Decisions November 20, 2006

The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation held a board meeting on November 20, 2006 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise).

For Arts:
1. The Chicago Sinfonieta: $15,000 for the Audience Development Initiative.

2. Lawyers for the Creative Arts: $20,000 for each of two years.

For the Built Environment:
1. Civic Blueprint: $20,000 for part-time Executive Director and continued start-up costs.

2. Filmakers Collaborative (Waltham, MA): $10,000 for finishing funds for “At Home in Utopia.”

3. Foresight Design Initiative: $15,000 for general operations.

4. Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance: $15,000 for commemorative publication for centennial celebration.

5. Historic Chicago Bungalow Association: $50,000 for each of two years.

6. Openlands Project: $11,000 for TreeKeepers program.

7. Partners for Sacred Places (Philadelphia, PA): $30,000 for general operations and $20,000 for Chicago programs.

For Economic Opportunity:
1. Community Economic Development Law Project: $15,000 for “Choose to Own” program.

2. St. Leonard’s Ministries: $25,000 for Job Retention Program.

For General funding:
1. Center for Effective Philanthropy (Cambridge, MA): $10,000 for conference, “Assessment to Action: Creating Change.”

2. Donors Forum of Chicago: $10,000 for Leadership Fund.

For Government Accountability/Investigative Reporting

1. Community Media Workshop: $15,000 for Studs Terkel Awards, and $15,000 for pilot program on investigative reporting.

For Museums:
1. Lower East Side Tenement Museum (New York City): In 2006, $20,000 for the “Irish Apartment,” $12,500 for “Schneider’s Saloon,” and $12,500 for capacity building. In 2007, $12,500 for “Schneider’s Saloon” and $12,500 for capacity building.
