Grant Decisions November, 2011

The Driehaus Foundation met on November 28, 2011 and approved the following grants (all grants are to Chicago-area organizations unless noted otherwise):

For Arts:

-Black Ensemble Theater:  A two-year grant of $15,000 each year for general operating support

For the Built Environment:

-Chicago Urban League: $20,000 for production costs for “Workforce Investment,” one part of the four-part video series, “Pathways to Empowerment.”

-Designs for Dignity:  $30,000 for general operating support;

-Eleanor Foundation: $25,000 for evaluation;

-Logan Square Neighborhood Association: $20,000 to support the campaign to preserve Lathrop Homes;

-Logan Square Preservation:  $15,000 for a planning grant to determine how to restore period street lighting to Logan Square Boulevard;

-The Museum of Modern Art (New York City):  $15,000 for the publication, "Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream;"

-National Building Museum (Washington, D.C.): $15,000 for "House & Home," a long-term exhibition opening in April 2012;

For Economic Opportunity/Working Poor:

-Jane Addams Senior Caucus: $10,000 for the Again Justice Project, a multi-generational leadership development training program designed to train women in policy advocacy.

From the General funding category:

-Taproot Foundation: $40,000 to sponsor four Service Grants for Richard H. Driehaus Foundation grantees and general operating support for the Taproot Foundation in Chicago.

For Government Accountability/Investigative Reporting:

-The Center for Public Integrity (Washington, D.C.):  $20,000 for a final grant;

-Chicago Public Media: $45,000 for general support of in-depth and investigative reporting;

-Media Matters (Washington, D.C.):  $10,000 for a final grant.

For Museums:

-Chicago Cultural Alliance:  $25,000.
